About Me
Hello there! My name is Hannah Burney. Thank you for stopping by. I have always had a love for writing and photography. In college, I decided to turn my hobby into a way of life, by majoring in Media Studies with an emphasis in Journalism. As a student, I had the opportunity to be the Features Editor for my college newspaper. I had an internship with the Adair Progress, did photography for the Public Relations Department at Lindsey Wilson College and was a content writer for Odyssey online.
Today, I have the all-encompassing job title of Creative Freelancer. Simply put, I work from home (or my favorite coffee shops), doing various forms of contract work in several areas, including writing, social media management, media design, and graphic design. I love the flexibility this has given me and I have already had so many wonderful opportunities and experiences as a result of stepping outside my comfort zone and pursuing what I truly love. I am passionate about telling stories and sharing experiences...be it through writing, photography or other forms of media.
I am married to my dear husband. We have a beautiful little boy who brings so much joy to our lives. I live for adventures with my family. I am a coffee snob. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, yoga, cooking, playing classical piano, traveling and reading. If you have any questions, comments or ideas, please do not hesitate to contact me! Work Experience
2017 - PRESENT
Since 2017, I have had many opportunities and new experiences which have led me to pursue building into a career as a creative freelancer. I am passionate about many things, and working in this field as a freelancer allows me to pursue those things, while learning, growing and challenging myself in the process. So far, I have worked with a church doing a complete website and email system overhaul, been subcontracted in designing a college baseball media guide, and taken on monthly recurring contracts to work as a social media manager for a pregnancy resource center, and a family farm. I find creative freelance work to be absolutely fascinating, and I look forward to continuing to learn as I gain more opportunities to prove myself in this field.
2016 - 2017
I spent time as a content creator for Odyssey Online. Here, I generated content ideas and wrote weekly articles on a variety of topics; including college life, faith, parenting and mental disorders.
2015 - 2017
I worked as a writing consultant for the Lindsey Wilson College Writing Center. Here, I worked individually with peers to provide support, ideas and assistance in the academic writing process​, as well as collaborated with peer workers to create and implement ideas to improve on the overall functioning of the Writing Center.
2015 - 2016
While attending Lindsey Wilson College, I had the opportunity to work as the Features Editor for RaiderView, the student newspaper. Here, I collaborated with other editors to plan content, designed page layouts using Adobe InDesign, and created written and photographic content for a variety of articles.

I have a bachelor's degree in Media Studies with an emphasis in Journalism. I enjoy communication and history, which is why I chose to minor in both. While at Lindsey Wilson College, I spent time as the Features Editor for RaiderView, the student newspaper, which gave me many opportunities to broaden my journalistic experiences.
